: A total of 8310 sarees and dhotis meant for distribution free of cost and worth about Rs 20 lakh have been seized from a textile godown here by Revenue Department officials.
On a tip off, Tahsildar Annapoorani and a team of officials went to the godown n in the heart of the town yesterday evening, broke open the doors and found 5930 dhotis and 2380 saris.
All the seized material was later taken to Taluk office.
Police are on the lookout for the godown owner, who is at large.
