Gurgaon's district health department has decided to give a Rs 25,000 health insurance cover free of cost to students of government schools afflicted by dengue.
Chief Medical Officer Ramesh Dhankar started the service from Civil Hospital here and said the department will educate people and children of slums to check the spread of dengue larva in their localities, on open grounds and potholes.
"We appreciate the initiative of DHAFL Pramerica Life Insurance Company for supporting us in our drive to curb dengue. Now the city's corporate sector has come forward to support such a human cause," said Dhankar.

The department has also issued toll free helpline numbers which will remain operational between 9 am and 5 pm.
Dhankar said no suspected case of dengue has been reported from Gurgaon till now.
