The Centre has sanctioned Rs 3,224 crore to Rajasthan under the AMRUT scheme for development of water supply, sewerage facilities, parks and green belts in 29 cities of the state.
It is expected that the state government will implement the scheme in a speedy manner, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said in a letter to Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
"The Union government has already disbursed 20 per cent of the funds for the first two phases of the scheme that were approved from November 2015 to June 2016. For the schemes approved from November 2016, funds will be made available by March 2017," Naidu said.
Twenty-nine cities that will benefit under AMRUT are Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bhiwadi, Beawar, Hanumangarh, Gangapur city, Hindaun city, Sujangarh, Kota, Bikaner, Ajmer, Udaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Sikar, Dholpur, Swai Madhopur, Churu, Baran, Chhittorgarh, Nagaur, Bundi, Bhilwara, Sriganganagar, Pali, Tonk, Jhunjhunu, Kishangarh and Jhalawar.
