Rs 30 cr worth ephedrine seized from woman air passenger

Twenty kgs of ephedrine, valued at about Rs 30 crore in the international market, was seized by customs officials from a Harare-bound woman Zimbabawean national at the airport here today.

Acting on a tip-off, officers of Air Intelligence unit recovered the ephedrine, a controlled substance under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, kept concealed in two secret cavities of her checked-in baggage, an official release said.

The woman was to take a Quatar Airways flight from here to Harare via Doha when she was intercepted by the customs in the departure hall.

The seized contraband was valued at about Rs 30 crore in the international market, the release said adding further investigation was progressing.
