: The World bank had sanctioned Rs 35 crore to Dakshina Kannada district under the National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project.
DK Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim said the district administration had proposed to set up cyclone shelters, construct bridges and roads and saline water embankment in the four assembly segments along the coastline under the project.
Besides this, it had been proposed to strengthen the communication network in the coastal region and to procure four fibreglass boats and emergency equipment to handle the threat of floods, he said in a release.
