Security forces have seized gold biscuits worth Rs 35 lakh when they were being smuggled along the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal.
The incident occured yesterday at Banpur border post area in Nadia district of the state when a Border Security Force (BSF) patrol intercepted the consignment which was supposed to have been taken across the border clandestinely.
"In all, ten gold biscuits weighing 1,166 grams have been seized from the area. They have been handed over to Customs authorities," a seniro BSF officer said here.
The estimated market value of the gold is about Rs 35 lakh, the official added.
