Press Trust of India Dehradun
Uttarakhand government has released Rs 39 crore for disaster management in view of the state's extreme vulnerability to natural calamities during monsoon.

Officials said Rs three crore will be given to each of the state's 13 districts for the purpose.

District Magistrates across the state have been directed to be on the alert and put in place mechanism needed for disaster management in case of an emergency with a stern warning that no laxity in this regard will be tolerated, they said.

Cloudbursts in Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts during monsoon last year had wreaked havoc in a number of villages flattening homes and killing scores of people.
