Haryana: Railway authorities seize Rs 4.49 lakh from Ambala station

Authorities recovered Rs 2,000 notes worth over Rs 2 lakh from two people

Railway police on Monday recovered Rs 4.49 lakh from two persons at the Ambala Cantonment railway station in Haryana. More than half of the amount in new Rs 2,000 denomination notes.

The two persons, reportedly from Ghaziabad, were travelling in a Amritsar-bound train when they were intercepted by the Railway police this evening, officials said.

The police were currently questioning the duo, who claimed to deal in vegetables.

The recovered currency also included Rs 2,000 denomination notes worth Rs 2,64, 000, police said.

The Railway police has informed the Income Tax department.
