Rs 4.94 lakh looted from dairy distributor

Motorcycle borne miscreants today shot at a distributor of a state owned dairy and looted Rs 4.94 lakh in cash from him in East Champaran district.

Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar said distributor Anjani Kumar Sinha was carrying Rs 5.69 lakh in cash from his home in Chanwari Road under Town police station to deposit it in a nationalised branch when the miscreants came in a motorcycle and accosted him.

As they tried to snatch the bag containing the money, Sinha resisted the attempt and the miscreants fired at him. He was hit by a bullet in the back, the SP said.
 

In the melee, the bag fell on the ground and around Rs 1.15 lakh came out of it and the looters decamped with rest Rs 4.94 lakh.

The victim is being treated at a private hospital, the SP said adding search for the criminals was on.
