Rs 4,969 cr paid as rehabilitation package for Western DFC

An amount of Rs 4,959 crore has been given as part of the rehabilitation package for Western Dedicated Freight Corridor project, Lok Sabha was informed today.

An amount of Rs 4,600 crore for land compensation and Rs 359 crore under rehabilitation package making a total of Rs 4,959 crore has been awarded as on July 31, 2016 in the Western DFC project for the affected persons under the provisions contained in the Railway Amendment Act 2008, Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013, Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain said in a written reply.
 

The 1,483 km long Western DFC project covers connects Jawaharlal Nehru Port to Dadri.

He said the total expenditure likely to be incurred on this account is Rs 6,000 crore approximately.

The Western DFC is targeted to be completed in phases in 2019.
