A CRPF jawan from Madhya Pradesh was presented with a cheque of Rs four lakh for the bravery shown by him in a face-off with naxals in Chhattisgarh.

The in-charge District Collector Shivraj Singh Verma yesterday handed over the cheque for the ex-gratia amount to CRPF jawan Manoj Singh.

Officials said the amount was given to the jawan for the display of bravery during an encounter with naxalites in Sukma district of Chhatisgarh on March 11, 2015, in which he was injured seriously.

The amount was handed over to the jawan at his Kakka Nagar residence here.

This financial assistance was provided from MP Chief Minister's Kargil Welfare fund.
