Rs 40 lakhs looted from gramin bank in Bihar

Armed miscreants today stormed into a state rural bank in Bihar's Bhagalpur district and looted Rs 40 lakh at gun point, police said.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vivek Kumar said that five unidentified miscreants with their face covered with black cloth stormed the Bihar Chetriya Gramin Bank branch at Ghanta ghar and damaged all CCTV cameras before looting the bank.

The miscreants hit the cashier of the branch with pistol butt and snatched key of the strong room from him, the SSP said.

Later, the miscreants locked the rest of the bank staff in a bathroom at gun-point and looted Rs 40 lakh cash before escaping, the SSP said.
 

He said the miscreants took away the CCTV box and locked the bank from outside before making good their escape.

The SSP said search operation was on to nab the miscreants.
