Rs 45 crore sanctioned for Sabarimala road maintenance

Kerala Government today sanctioned Rs 45 crore for maintenance work of roads leading to famous hill shrine of Lord Ayyappa in Sabarimala, ahead of the two-month long annual pilgrimage season starting next month.

The season, which attracts more than three crore pilgrims every year, begins mid-next month.

State Finance Minister K M Mani issued an order sanctioning the amount, an official release said here.

Out of the sanctioned amount, Rs 22 crore was for the maintenance of 17 roads identified by the Kerala High Court and Rs 23 crore for other related roads.

The temple is managed by the Travancore Devaswom Board.
