About 10 kg of silver sheets worth Rs 45 lakh were stolen from the wooden car of Sri Muthu Mariamman temple at nearby Ilanjavur in the district, police said today.
Temple officials this morning found the silver sheets "ripped off" when they opened the enclosure in which the wooden car was kept, they said.
