Rs 5.4 crore in disproportionate assets of of 2 officials

Disproportionate assets worth Rs 5.4 crore were alleegdly detected during raids at the premises of two Bihar government officials by the Economic Offence Wing.

A raid at the premises of Motor Vehicles Inspector Bhuvaneshwar Prasad Singh, posted in East Champaran district, revealed Rs 1.82 crore worth movable and immovable assets disproportionate to known sources of income, Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, S K Bharadwaj told reporters today.

Raids on six premises of Agriculture Officer Dharmveer Pandey posted in the same district revealed disproportionate assets to teh tune of Rs 3.54 crore, he said.

Bharadwaj said that Rs seven lakh in cash was was recovered from an almirah of Pandey's assistant and that the agriculture officer has 23 bank accounts.
 

The raids were carried out after FIRs were registered against the yesterday, he added.
