Rs 5 lakh in new notes looted from bank employee

Three motorcycle-borne assailants today allegedly robbed cash worth Rs 5 lakh in new notes from the employees of a private bank near Malikpur village in the district, police said.

Ravinder Kumar, operation manager of the HDFC bank in Kurukshetra was taking the money to Dhurala village in his car along with an unarmed security guar to deposit it into the HDFC bank branch in the village, they said.

Three men riding on a motorcycle with their faces covered accosted the vehicle by pointing a country-made revolver and got its window pane opened, police said.

The assailants then threw chili powder in Kumar and the guard's eyes before fleeing with the cash, they said, investigation in tis connection is underway.
