Rs 563 cr relief fund distributed among rain-hit farmers in UP

In pursuance with the directives of chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, financial help worth Rs 563 crore has been distributed among 12.71 lakh farmers who suffered crop losses due to recent untimely rains and hailstorm.

A total of Rs 1,135 crore have been sanctioned to provide immediate relief to farmers in the affected districts, an official spokesman here said.

Besides, Rs 3 crore have been provided to families which faced loss of human lives due to the calamity, he said.

Steps are also being taken for rescheduling of bank loans and payment of Kisan Bima Yojna, he said, adding, that revenue minister Shivpal Singh Yadav has held video conferencing with the divisional commissioners and district magistrates of the affected areas twice and reviewed the ongoing relief works.
 

So far a total of 67 districts of Uttar Pradesh have been hit by the untimely rains and hailstorm, he added.
