Rs 8.52 lakh in new currency recovered from train

Railway Police today recovered Rs 8.52 lakh in new currency from a passenger at Ambala Cantt railway station during a search campaign.

Ashok Kumar was traveling in an Amritsar-bound train this evening when the police searched his luggage and recovered the Rs 8.52 lakh in new notes was recovered form his possession.

Kumar was coming from Maharaj Ganj (UP) and was going to Ludhiana.

The railway informed Income Tax department about the recovery and they have started probe in the matter.

Kumar told Railway Police that he deals in hosiery and was going to Ludhiana for making payment to a manufacturer with the amount.
