Rs 9 lakh looted from tax collection point in Haryana

Cash worth Rs 9 lakh was allegedly robbed by four unidentified men from a tax collection point of Ambala taxation department on the National Highway-1 today, police said.

According to the Ambala taxation department, a sales tax inspector and a peon were present in the tax collection point at Devi Nagar village, when a group of four robbers came in a car and threatened the official at gun point to handover the money to them.

The culprits then fled towards Punjab side, they said.

The district taxation commissioner Randhir Singh confirmed the incident, stating that around Rs 9 lakh was looted by the assailants from the tax collection point.
 

A case against unidentified men has been registered, police said, adding that no arrests have been made so far.
