Currencies worth Rs 9 lakh were confiscated during raids at a police checkpost at Shaktigarh in Burdwan district this evening.
BDO Kamalika Mukhopadhyay said the MUV, travelling from Kolkata to Birbhum, was intercepted at the checkpost and the cash seized from the occupants.
With poll code of conduct in force, carrying cash worth over Rs 20,000 for ordinary people and Rs over Rs 50,000 for VIPs is not allowed in vehicles as per EC guidelines, she said.

They were let off but the money, now in custody of the district administration, would be handed over to the concerned persons only on verifying the claims, the BDO said.
The three included one Aminul Haq from Birbhum who claimed to be the leader of the group.
