Rs 90 lakh worth gold seized from air passenger

Gold worth Rs 90 lakh was seized by Customs authorities from a man who arrived here from Singapore and was allegedly trying smuggle in the yellow metal, airport officials said.

Officials of Air Intelligence Unit of Customs detained Mohideen Ahmed, who was found carrying 2.7 kg of the precious metal in his hand baggage, they said.

In another airport-related incident, a Sri Lankan national was arrested on charges of possessing a fake passport.

Gunathas was planning to fly to Paris via New Delhi, the officials said.
