RS condoles death of former member from Bihar

When the House met for the day, Chairman Hamid Ansari mentioned about the passing away of Prasad on February 16 at the age of 73.

A college teacher by profession, Prasad had founded many high schools in Bihar. He became an MLA in 1967 and held various portfolios as minister in the state government from 1968.

Prasad represented Bihar in the Upper House from April 1982 to January 1985.

"In passing away of Mahabir Prasad, the country has lost an able administrator and a distinguished parliamentarian," Ansari said. "We deeply mourn the passing away of Mahabir Prasad."

The members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul. PTI ANZ
