With members in Rajya Sabha expressing concern over murders of senior citizens in the national capital, the government today said there were five cases of murder this year and all of them have been solved.
According to the data tabled in the House by Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Ahir during the Question Hour, 57 cases of murder of senior citizens were registered since 2014. Of these 47 have been worked out, while 10 are pending investigation.
The members had expressed concern over the safety of elderly in the national capital.

Ahir said that a mobile app has been launched for the safety of these citizens while the policemen also make visits, phone calls and mobile vans are posted to ensure their safety.
According to the data provided by the minister, in 2016, 19 cases were reported of which 16 were solved.
In 2015, there were 11 cases of senior citizens being murdered, of which 9 were worked out, while in 2014 there were 22 such cases and 17 have been worked out.
