Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has achieved the best ever month production in major areas in January this year besides an all time high production figures in the first ten months of 2013-14.
RSP recorded impressive performance in January with 'Best-Month-since-inception' records being set in many areas like hot metal (2.39 lakh tonnes), crude steel (2.13 lakh tonnes), saleable steel (2.12 lakh tonnes), sinter (3.36 lakh tonnes) and hot rolled coil total (1.66 lakh tonnes).
On January 31, the hot strip mill rolled out 8804 tonnes of HR coil, the best of the mill for any single day.

By producing 2.1 million tonnes (MT) of hot metal, 1.92 MT of crude steel and 1.88 MT of saleable steel in April-2013 to January-2014 period, RSP registered its best ever record.
It bettered its performance over the corresponding period last year by 6.8 per cent, 4.2 per cent and 6 per cent respectively in the respective segments, they said.
Besides, highest ever production of sinter (3.12 MT), plate mill plates (4.13 lakh tonnes) and hot rolled coil for sale (7.89 lakh tonnes) has been achieved by the Steel Plant.
RSP's CEO G S Prasad, who visited various units to congratulate the employees personally expressed happiness over the achievements, sources said.
"The combination of the state-of-the-art technology of the new units and commitment of the RSP collective will make the plant touch many more peaks of excellence in the days to come," he said.
