Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), an unit of the Maharatna Company SAIL, today said it has commenced 2017 on a record breaking note, registering all-time best performances in a number of areas.
The Coke Ovens Battery-6 registered an average of 92 no of pushings per day, while the sinter plant produced 5,11,810 tonnes sinter while hot metal production was to the tune of 3,10,423 tonnes.
Similarly, the total crude steel production was at 2,97,934 tonnes and New Plate Mill rolled out 57,285 tonnes of plates, which are the best-ever performances for any month since inception, RSP said in a statement today.

In the April-January period, the plant produced 23,76,928 tonnes of crude Steel and 22,35,471 tonnes of saleable steel thereby registering a growth of 5.3 per cent and 14 per cent respectively over the previous fiscal.
The performance of the new units that have come up as a part of its modernisation and expansion has been noteworthy, it said.
During the said period, Coke Ovens Battery-6 clocked an average of 87.7 no of pushings per day, while Sinter Plant-III made 26,55,024 tonnes of sinter, Blast Furnace-5 produced 23,09,955 tonnes of Hot Metal, New Continuous Caster-III made 8,64,291 tonnes of slab while the New Plate Mill rolled out 4,28,083 tonnes of plates.
These all-time best figures by the new state-of-the-art units are setting the tone for a brighter future for RSP, the release said.
RSP's CEO Ashwini Kumar, visited various units yesterday that have excelled during the period and congratulated employees on their outstanding performance, the release added.
