: Sections in the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) in Kerala today came out resenting the 'unilateral decisions' of LDF's lead partner CPI(M) on apportioning Lok Sabha seats overlooking claims of minor partners.

"We have strong protest over the unilateral way in which CPI(M) is taking decisions. If necessary, we will put up a candidate in Kollam, from where we have won several times in the past," senior RSP leader V P Ramakrishna Pillai said here.

The party wants to regain the Kollam seat which, it had won several times in the past but its demand has been ignored by the CPI(M).

Kollam was once a RSP stronghold and the party had a strong trade union base in the area which had several traditional industries like cashew processing units. Though RSP's founder leader late N Sreekantan Nair had won from Kollam repeatedly, CPI(M) took over the constituency later and had won in 2004.

In 2009, CPI(M) conceded the seat to N Peethambara Kurup of the Congress.

This time around, the party plans to field its politburo member and former minister M A Baby in Kollam.
