The central leadership of Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) is mulling suspending its Kerala unit including its two legislators as it has allied with the Congress-led UDF there, a top leader of the party said today.
"We are awaiting a report from our party leader Abani Roy who has gone there (Kerala) to hold discussions with the party leadership. There is a process involved in taking action.
"If anyone goes against the party line at this juncture of the elections, actions including suspension from the party can be taken. After suspension, expulsion can follow," RSP central committee member Kshiti Goswami told PTI here.
Goswami, a former PWD minister in West Bengal said the RSP central committee would discuss the development in Kerala and take actions including suspension of the members of its Kerala unit including the two legislators.
The RSP, a long-time partner in the LDF, broke off with it on March 8, protesting the "overbearing" approach of the CPI(M) and CPI in seat allocation. The party also decided to put up its former MP N K Premachandran as its candidate from the Kollam seat, its traditional stronghold.
Goswami agreed with the views expressed by Abani Roy recently that CPI(M)'s stand in seat-sharing talks with RSP party was "unfair".
"When Roy has said it, he is correct," Goswami said, adding, "It is unfortunate that nobody approached the RSP central leadership from the CPI(M) requesting any meeting or steps for conciliation talks to sort out the dispute arising out of seat-sharing there".
To a question, he said the party's Bengal unit would continue to be a party of the Left Front in the state.
