RSP presents Shree Shakti award to women SHGs

Seven Women's Self Help Groups (SHGs), operating in the peripheral areas of this steel city here, have been awarded Shree Shakti Awards-2014-15 by Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP).

The SHGs received the awards from RSP's CEO G S Prasad and Manjari Prasad, President of Deepika Mahila Sanghati in a function organised here recently, a release from RSP said.

It is pertinent to note that in order to recognise and motivate Women's SHGs operating in its peripheral areas, RSP has initiated 'Shree Shakti' - a scheme for recognition of outstanding Women's SHGs as a part of its CSR initiatives.

Under this scheme the best Self Help Group receives a cash award of Rs 50,000 along with a Trophy & Citation. The second prize comprises a Cash Award of Rs 30,000 along with a Trophy & Citation. There is a provision for maximum of four consolation prizes of Rs 5,000 each, it said.
 

Many Women's SHGs functioning in the model steel villages adopted by RSP, resettlement colonies/camps of RSP and villages in the adjoining blocks like Bisra, Nuagaon, Kuarmunda, Lathikata and Rajgangpur Blocks participated in the scheme, the release said.

Sri Sai SHG of Jabaghat village in Bisra block received the first prize in the contest while Sanjivani SHG of Jhirpani in Bisra Block and Indira SHG of Chungimati village in Rajgangpur Block bagged the joint second prize.

Tarini SHG of Laing Colony in Rajgangpur Block, Pinky SHG of Jamsera village in Bisra Block, Madhur SHG of San Nuagaon village in Lathikata Block and Suman SHG of Dalposh village in Bisra Block received the consolation prizes, the release added.
