The RSS, known as the ideological mentor of the BJP, today organised a special workshop for the party legislators at its office in Reshimbaug here, which was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his Cabinet colleagues.

The workshop has been held every year for BJP legislators during winter session of the state legislature.

Interestingly, BJP leaders Eknath Khadse and Ashish Deshmukh didn't attend the workshop, organised at Smriti Mandir office of the Sangh.

RSS Vidarbha region Karyavah Deepak Tamshettiwar addressed the saffron legislators.

The winter session of the state legislature is currently underway in Nagpur, the second capital of Maharashtra.

While Khadse did not turn up in the Assembly today, Deshmukh chose to spend the entire day in the Lower House though he didn't participate in any discussion.

Khadse has been sulking since he had to quit as Revenue Minister in 2015 following allegations of corruption and a conflict of interest in connection with a land deal.

The senior BJP leader was not available for comment.

Deshmukh, a strong proponent of separate Vidarbha state, declined comment when asked about skipping the workshop.

On the eve of the beginning of the winter session of the state legislature on December 10, Deshmukh had written a letter appealing to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take steps to carve out a separate Vidarbha state.
