Accusing RSS of spreading communal tension in a North-East Delhi colony, CPI(M) delegation today called on L-G Najeeb Jung seeking action in this regard.

According to CPI(M), Jung, assured the delegation led by party politburo member Brinda Karat of "appropriate action" in this regard.

"We met the L-G because prior to Eid observance, RSS shakhas are targeting the Sri Ram colony, home to minority population mostly, to spread communal tension. We are very concerned because they (RSS) are bringing people from outside the area (to hold meetings) here," Karat said after the meeting.

During the meeting, Karat said, the delegation raised concerns about role of police, which falls under the L-G's jurisdiction, as well.

The party accused cops of "forcing" locals to come to an agreement with the Sangh to allow shakhas on Eid day itself and BJP leaders of encouraging "RSS brigade" in this regard.

"Instead of helping local people and stopping shakhas, police are forcing residents to come to an agreement with RSS to allow shakha on Eid day itself on one maidan (ground) where Eid namaz is usually offered," she said.

The Left party also expressed concerns over "conspicuous absence" of Delhi law minister and local AAP MLA, Kapil Mishra, during the entire period.

"L-G has directed the police authorities (to take action). So, we are waiting now to see (what happens) because we don't want another Trilokpuri (like incident to take place)," she said.

The CPI (M) also tweeted later about L-G's assurance on taking action saying, "L-G who had called all the concerned authorities to attend the meeting, assured the delegation of appropriate action."

Clashes had erupted in city's Trilokpuri area on Diwali night in October last year when five persons (belonging to two communities) consumed liquor and non-vegetarian food near a religious structure.

The clashes later escalated and police had to clamp prohibitory orders in the area.In all, 70 people including 56 police personnel were injured in the incident.
