Teachings of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh reflected in the political and social life of late Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, a top RSS leader said Thursday.
Parrikar, who was also a former Defence Minister, was a swayamsevak (volunteer) and that defined his personality, said RSSgeneral secretary Bhayyaji Joshi.
He was speaking at a condolence meeting organised here for Parrikar, who died on March 17 after a prolonged illness.
"Parrikar gave his all to the society. In the social and political fields, he has set benchmark. There are few people who set benchmark and fulfil it," Joshi said.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Goa Governor Mridula Sinha and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, among others, were present on the occasion.
"Parrikar was a swayamsevak and that was enough to define him. He was a swayamsevak of the Sangh. That is why he took everyone along with him," he said.

"We could see reflection of teachings of the Sangh in his political and social life. Parrikar nurtured dream about Goa and also fulfilled it," Joshi said.
The RSS leader said Parrikar had extraordinary capability to take quick decisions.
Sawant, who succeeded the late chief minister, said his next three years in office will be completely dedicated to Parrikar.
"I will follow the line of governance charted out by Parrikar. If I fail, anytime, you have right to correct me," said the 46-year-old BJP leader.
"I owe the CM's chair to Parrikar. I will run the government on the basis of the common minimum programme worked out by Parrikar," Sawant said, adding the IIT graduate-turned- politician would be remembered as an "architect" of modern Goa.
"We have several programmes designed in the memory of Parrikar, but I can't disclose them now due to the model code of conduct (in force for next month's polls)," he said.
