A Right to Information (RTI) activist Vilas Baravkar was found hanging in his house at Chakan today, police said.

Police claimed a suicide note was found at his residence.

The handwritten suicide note on a Rs 100 stamp paper has named around 50 bigwigs, including politicians, police officers and some government servants who are allegedly responsible for his suicide, police said.

"We are examining every possibility since Vilas Baravkar has unearthed many land scams and illegal constructions in Chakan. We will investigate all of them. We have still not registered any complaint against anyone named in the note," investigating officer Kishore Patil said.

Several other local RTI activists like Satish Shetty, Arun Sawant, Vitthal Gite, Ramdas Ghadegaonkar, Dattatray Patil, Premnath Jha and Rajesh Bobade have been murdered in recent times.
