Andhra Pradesh Information Commissioner P Vijaya Babu has sought action by the state government against those officers who have failed to provide information to public sought under the RTI Act.

Though Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been making persistent efforts to bring e-governance to create transparency and accountability in administration and its working, unfortunately, officials are not supporting his initiatives, Babu told reporters here today.

The officer was in city to attend a RTI awareness programme.

He said out of 13 districts in Andhra Pradesh, three do not have a website of district administration, six do not have any link (online links) for RTI or related query, while in the remaining four districts though RTI links are provided, no public information is put up on the website.

Babu said it is mandatory for officials to give information under RTI Act and if anyone fails in doing so, action should be taken against them.

He also urged to the government to take action against such officials who do not furnish information to the public under the RTI Act.
