Congress workers today staged a demonstration here against BJP for "showing scant respect" to the constitution by resorting to "mayhem" of democracyin Karnataka through the state governor.
PWD minister and PCC president A Namassivayam alleged that the BJP had been using governors of states and Lt Governors of Union Territories as their agents to "wreck democracy and to execute their autocratic and anti-people decisions."
"The Governor of Karnataka should honour the constitutional provisions by inviting the Congress-JD (S) combine having a majority strength to form the government replacing the present dispensation in the State," he said.
Welfare Minister M Kandasamy, Deputy Speaker V P Sivakolundhu, government whip R K R Anandaraman, legislators and leaders of the youth congress were among those who participated in the demonstration.
Chief Minister V Narayanasamy was away in Delhi meeting central ministers on projects relating to Puducherry and hence could not participate in the demonstration,Congress sources said.
