In an embarrassment to the ruling Congress, senior party member and former Karnataka Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar today said the Governor's address to the Legislature did not satisfy him.
Speaking on the motion of thanks to the Governor for his address, Kumar said he hoped that the next Governor's joint address would be better than this year's speech. "I hope the Governor's speech will be better next time around. The speech this year did not satisfy me."
He said the Governor's speech talks about lake development across the state, but the fact is that no such works have been taken up in his (Srinivasapura) constituency, contrary to the claims made in it.
Kumar, however, blamed bureaucrats for preparing and handing out a "casual" speech to the Governor.
Members of both houses of the Legislature have to thank Governor for his speech even if they are dissatisfied with it, he said. "Such is the West Minister model of democracy that the members have to thank the Governor for his joint address even if he is not satisfied with it," he said.
In a witty remark on the recent cabinet expansion, Kumar said Siddaramaiah did not consider his induction into the ministry as the Chief Minister probably thinks he is a tainted legislator, unlike Roshan Baig and D K Shivakumar who were given cabinet berths recently despite facing "corruption" charges.
"However, I have lost interest to join the ministry even if it is offered to me," he added.
