Ruling party MLAs stage dharna against Collector in Puducherry

Causing a flutter, four MLAs of ruling AINRC here today staged a dharna in the collectorate here protesting "lack of response" from revenue authorities in implmenting various welfare schemes.

M.Vaithianathan, who is the Parliamentary Secretary to the Chief Minister N Rangasamy, Government Whip G Nehru, Chairman of Puducherry Slum Clearance Board P Karthikeyan and P M L Kalyanasundaram resorted to the sudden protest and dispersed later.

They were protesting "lethargic and irresponsive attitude" of the Puducherry District Collector to the plea of the MLAs for distribution of pattas to the poor.

The MLAs first held talks with the officials of the Department of Survey and Land Recordsa and then proceeded to meet the Collector, but he was not present in office then.
