Jammu and Kashmir Police is organising a state level marathon "Run for Fun" on April 19 here.
"Police is organising 'Run for Fun,' a state level marathon on April 19 at Jammu", Inspector General of Police (IGP), Armed Police, Jammu, Shafkat Ali Watali said.
He said that the marathon is being organised by J&K Police under Civic Action Programme and large number of people of different age groups are expected to participate in the event.

Watali, who is the organising secretary of the 'J&K State Marathon-2015', said that Rs 3 lakh is being distributed as cash prize among 45 outstanding athletes participating in different competitions during the event.
"To ensure maximum participation, the event has been divided into six different categories based on distance to be covered by the athletes including full marathon of 42 km for men, half marathon of 21 km for both men and women (to be flagged off separately), 8 km run for under-14 boys, 6 km run for under-14 girls, Run for Fun of 4 km for both men and women irrespective of age and 42 km full marathon and 21 km half marathon for police, paramilitary and Army personnel," he added.
The IGP said that the marathon is open to all and people can register themselves with sports officer of J&K Police at Armed Police Headquarters, Gulshan Ground Jammu, between 10 AM to 6 PM on any working day.
"On the spot registration at the venue would also be available on the day of the marathon," he added.
The IGP said that different committees have been formed for smooth and successful conduct of the event.
