Runaway man held in connection with woman's killing

A 35-year-old man, wanted in connection with the killing of an 80-year-old woman in Gujarat last December, was arrested today from suburban Jogeshwari, police said.

The accused, identified as Istiyak Hasan Ali Khan, allegedly planned the killing of the woman with the help of his aides at the behest of her son-in-law in Ghatlodia area in Ahmedabad, an official said, adding that Khan was given Rs five lakh to execute the contract.

In December 2017, two men entered the house of the woman under the pretext of delivering courier and strangulated her, the official said, adding that the duo fled with ornaments of the woman after killing her.

 

Gujarat Police had arrested three persons, including the son-in-law of the woman.

However, Khan has been on the run, the official said.

He was arrested on a tip-off.
