After her national-award winning performance in "Abosheshey", Rupa Ganguly is all set to sing a Tagore number in her next "Asbo Aar ek Din".

"I said no way, Abosheshey. Not again," Rupa said recalling director Abhijit Dasgupta and music director Indradeep Dasgupta persuading her to sing Tagore song 'Achhe Dukho Achhe Mrityu' (there is grief, there is death) in "Asbo Aar Ek Din".

"Your wife and sister may sing better than me. But since it is Rupa Ganguly you will say ooh and aah," she told PTI quoting director Aditi Roy and script writer Neel in "Abosheshey".

In "Abosheshey", Rupa had sung the timeless Tagore number 'Dure Kothay Dure' on the anguish of a mother not meeting her son for days.

Stating that she could not comprehend why she was chosen for the national award as a singer in "Abosheshe", she said, "I love to sing but I don't wish to record my songs for film playback. There are more deserving candidates.

"But singing Tagore song brings solitude. And I enjoy singing without any prodding, because I am not a good singer," the Padma Nadir Majhi and Yuganto actor said.

The song, which was originally recorded without instrumentation and is the title track, was later given some background music.

"Rupadi is a natural singer. And due to her busy schedule perhaps the sense of fatigue was traceable in her voice when she came for recording," Indradeep said.

"But that possibly made the track Achhe Dukho Achhe Mrityo more introspective. It was a treat to see her deeply immersed in lines during rehearsal and recording."

A tale of three couples, penned by a practising doctor where people are faced with real life health emergencies, Ashbo Aar Ekdin stars Baise Srabon actor Abir Chatterjee, Bhooter Bhabisyot actor Swastika Mukherjee, senior actor turned film producer and Abarto director Arindam Sil and others.
