The rupee edged marginally higher by three paise to 59.87 against the US dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market today on increased selling of the US currency by exporters amid continued capital inflows.
Forex dealers said a higher opening in the domestic equity market and strengthening of the euro against the US currency overseas also supported the rupee.
The rupee closed at 59.90 in yesterday's trade, gaining just one paisa from its previous close.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex climbed to yet another record-high of 22,620.65, rising 69.16 points, or 0.30 per cent, in early trade today.
