Information and Broadcasting minister Manish Tewari today said the development of infrastructure in urban and rural areas is equally important.
"Whether it has been the UPA government or the governments before it, there has been a belief that development of both cities and towns in important. As far as infrastructure is concerned, it is true that there is shortage of funds for infrastructure but it is not right to say that governments prefers developing villages to cities," Tewari said.
"Sixty five percent of our population lives in villages and to focus on their development also is a duty of a sensitive government," he added.
