A Russian man was apprehended at the airport here for allegedly using a fake ticket to enter the terminal area, a senior official said Thursday.

G A Sergeevich was intercepted by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel as he was about to leave the Terminal-3 building of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Wednesday, the official said.

The man, who holds a Russian passport, was stopped and questioned while exiting the terminal area where passengers are not usually allowed, he said.

He told the security personnel that he used a "cancelled" ticket to Bangkok to enter the terminal area as he wanted to exchange his foreign currency.

The man had arrived at IGI from Ashgabat (Turkmenistan) early Wednesday, the official said.

He was subsequently handed over to police and charged with alleged trespass.
