Rutuja and Hooda are National U-14 clay court champions

Rutuja Chapalkar toppled top seed and statemate Sudipta Kumar to emerge Under-14 National Clay Court Champion while Krishan Hooda won the boys' crown with a straight-set win over Udit Gogoi.

The 13-year-old Rutuja, who finished runner-up at the Hard Court Nationals in October, rallied to beat Sudipta 3-6 6-1 6-1 in the summit clash.

It was double delight for the eighth standard student from the DES English Medium School in Pune, as she also won the doubles title with Naisha Srivastav.

In the boys' category, top seed Krishan Hooda beat second seed Udit Gogoi 6-1 7-5 to claim the under 14 title.

Girls :

Rutuja Chaphalkar (Mah)(5) bt Sudipta Kumar(Mah)(1) 3-6 6-1 6-1.
