S. Naval Command conducts coastal security awareness campaign

A team from Southern Naval Command, Kochi under Naval Officer-in-Charge (Kerala) today conducted the first ever Coastal Security Awareness Campaign (CSAC) of MAHE at Fishermen Community Hall, near highway in the Union Territory.

Various dignitaries from the Navy, Department of Fisheries and Coastal Police participated in the Campaign. Detailed classes on various aspect of coastal security and life saving at sea as well as the precautions during fishing along the coast, actions to be taken while sighting a doubtful boat/vessel etc were conducted by representative of JOC (Kochi) during the campaign.

CSAC is an attempt to bring the local fishermen community closer to the security organisation set up and instil a sense of alertness and vigil, Navy said in a release here.
 

As part of bringing about awareness amongst the fishing populace about the importance of Coastal Security the Joint Operation Centre at Naval base Kochi has been in the fore front in conducting regular CSAC in various coastal districts of Kerala.

Within a short period of eight months, the CSAC team has covered a total of 24 villages in six coastal districts including Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Malappuram, Ernakulam and Kannur, the release added.
