Wall Street stocks surged to new heights today amid renewed optimism the US is working towards defusing the spiraling trade confrontations.
The broad-based S&P 500 index rose to 2,873.20, near 1655 GMT, beating the previous record hit January 26, and up up 0.6 percent from the open.
The Dow and Nasdaq also moved higher as analysts said trade talks this week with China and Mexico has added to positive momentum following a strong second-quarter corporate earnings season.
