The Southern Railways today announced special trains to Mayiladuthurai from Thanjavur and Tiruchirapalli from February to clear the extra rush of passengers expected in view of the Feb 22 Mahamaham festival, held once in 12 years here.
Mela charges as applicable shall be levied on the tickets for travel by these trains, to be run on February 13, 14, 15 and 16, a Southern Railway release said.
Lakhs of pilgrims are expected to throng the town to take a holy dip in the Mahamaham Tank here, from February 13 to February 22.
