The SAARC Regional Poverty Profile for eight South Asian nations, including recommendations by experts for tackling poverty, will be released here on Wednesday.

The report, to be released by Chairman of Nepal's interim government Khil Raj Regmi, will present status of poverty in all SAARC states and recommendations by experts on ways to address poverty, according to Dhan Bahadur Oli, director of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) in Nepal.

The poverty profile will be based on poverty-related data of 2010.

Regmi will inaugurate a symposium on "Best Practices in Poverty Alleviation in SAARC Member States", under the SAARC-UNDP Partnership Programme and release the regional poverty profile.

Various technical papers, including micro-finance, social protection programme, women empowerment, sanitation, rural self-employment, will be discussed on the occasion.

Around three dozen delegates from all eight SAARC countries - Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka - will attend the conference.

Participants will thoroughly discuss issues pertaining to project-based regional cooperation, status of poverty in South Asia and SAARC food security.
