The State Administrative Council (SAC) approved Wednesday a legislation to curb mushrooming of NGOs and other civil societies and streamline their functioning, an official spokesperson said.
The Jammu & Kashmir Societies Registration (Amendment) Act, 2018 was approved by the SAC under the chairmanship of Governor Satya Pal Malik, the spokesperson said.
He said provisions for renewal, appeal, de-registration and mandatory requirement of maintenance of accounts, address, details of members have been incorporated in the law.
The amendment will help to streamline various issues related to NGOs/societies and improve accountability, he said.
