Actor-comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, who plays a dimwitted English football hooligan in upcoming comedy "Grimsby", says they were not allowed to use FIFA logo in the film by the soccer body.

The Columbia Pictures movie, directed by Louis Leterrier, will see "The Dictator" star portray the role of Nobby, who teams up with his long lost brother, a deadly MI6 agent, to foil a global terror plot in the movie.

"My character is a football hooligan, who tries to stop the world cup final from being destroyed by an international crime organization... Not FIFA.

"Incidentally, FIFA wouldn't allow us to use their logo, saying that they did not want us to bring disrepute to their organisation. It turned out they had that one covered," Cohen said while presenting "Grimsby" preview at the Summer of Sony press event here.

FIFA, the international governing body of soccer, has recently been rocked by a huge corruption scandal that prompted the resignation of its president Sepp Blatter and the indictment of several of its officials on charges of bribery.

Cohen, known for bringing comedic characters like Ali G, Borat and Admiral General Aladeen to life, has also written the story.

Apart from Cohen and Strong, Isla Fisher, Rebel Wilson, Gabourey Sidibe, and Penelope Cruz star in the movie, which is slated to hit the screens on March 18, 2016.
