Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar today fulfilled a promise he had made two years ago to a youth of Puttamraju Kandrika village in SPS Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh.
Upon landing in the village in a helicopter, Sachin drove to the house of Mahesh, a youth who recently landed a small job in a private firm in Bengaluru, and took tea offered by the family.
Sachin had adopted the village under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) on this day two years ago, and today he visited it for the second time to take stock of development.

When he first visited Kandrika to adopt it under the SAGY, Sachin found Mahesh's house in a bad shape.
"If you clean it up and set it right, I will come to your house during my next visit and have tea," Sachin had promised the youth.
In the last two years, Mahesh's family rebuilt the house and painted it afresh, besides making the surroundings tidy.
And, that impressed Sachin, who is one of the brand ambassadors of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'.
"When I came here last time, I had promised Mahesh -- who was not married then -- that I will come next time and have a cup of tea in his house. It was so satisfying to have a cup of tea. I thank his parents for making me feel comfortable," the Rajya Sabha member said, addressing the villagers later.
The cricket legend also posed for photographs with Mahesh, who recently got married.
Sachin, while addressing the villagers, also mentioned Mahesh's words on the role of parents in encouraging children.
"Like Mahesh said, instead of drinking and smoking in evenings, men should spent time with their family," Sachin said.
Meanwhile, according to district Joint Collector Md Imtiaz, a job mela was organised in PR Kandrika recently in which about 90 youths from the village got various jobs in private firms.
